School of the Bible Coming to Sugar Grove, Designed to Help Christians Become More Effective
The Summit Baptist Church in Sugar Grove, Virginia, announced earlier this week that it will be launching the Summit Baptist School of the Bible, a free and unique Bible Study program that is aimed at assisting believers become more effective in their walk with Christ.
According to church leaders, the School of the Bible’s inaugural semester will meet for six weeks this fall, covering two separate courses of study: “Christian Living” and “Teaching the Scriptures”.
Program organizers say that the classes will be held every Monday night beginning at 7 p.m., with “Christian Living” meeting from 7 p.m. to 7:40 p.m. and “Teaching the Scriptures” classes being held from 7:50 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
“Over the past several months, we have been blessed to see remarkable growth at Summit Baptist Church and believe that this new ministry is a logical and effective step forward in our work,” said Pastor Jeremy Farley.
Farley said that the program was specifically designed to assist the members and attendees of Summit Baptist Church become more knowledgeable of the Scriptures and more effective in their service, but stated that the school of the Bible will be open to all individuals.
“We’ve been very blessed to have the support of local pastors and as we talked in the community, we realized that there is a great need for this type of program in our region. Many churches are struggling and one reason is because Christians just don’t understand the Scriptures like they once did,” said the pastor.
The “Christian Living” program will focus on establishing the fundamental precepts of the Christian life in hopes of aiding students in becoming more effective in their local church, as well as and closer in their walk with Christ. A great emphasis will be placed upon personal Bible study and strengthening an individual walk with Christ.
On the other hand, the “Teaching the Scriptures” class will be provide practical instruction on teaching the Bible effectively. This course is expected to be particularly helpful to Sunday School teachers, beginning preachers and Christians desiring to expand their level of service in their local church. Bible study leaders and parents who wish to teach the Bible in their homes may find this class helpful as well.
A graduation ceremony will be held during the evening church service of November 5, 2017, for all students that successfully completed the course; however, program leaders stress that even if an individual is unable to attend every class, they are more than welcomed
to attend single night sessions as their schedules permit.
